Adult Woman Allegedly 'Instructed' Teenager to Kill Her Dog, Months After Puppy Also Died Mysteriously

A woman in Pennsylvania allegedly told a teenage boy he had to kill her dog while she was away from home. The boy apparently felt he had to do as he was told, and now both people are facing animal abuse charges.

The woman apparently had two dogs - one puppy, and one adult. Authorities later discovered that the puppy had seemingly died from neglect and "poor" health, and its decomposing body remained in a box on the woman's property for months. At first, the woman tried to deny that she had ever owned a puppy, and then eventually claimed the animal had simply died in its crate.

Then, she apparently tried to find a new home for the remaining adult dog, but did not succeed. So instead of bringing the dog to a shelter or seeking professional help, she enlisted this teenager to kill her dog.

The boy explained to authorities that he felt distress over this assignment and concern about whether the dog would "feel any pain." So he first attempted to quickly break the dog's neck. When that did not work, he resorted to severely beating the dog with a metal baseball bat, inflicting blunt force trauma. He kept the dog in place using a cord instead of a leash, holding it there while he attempted to beat it to death.

Ultimately, he placed the dog in the box with the dead puppy. However, days later, the woman realized the dog had not actually died yet, so she brought it to an animal hospital. Veterinarians discovered head trauma, a skull fracture, and skin lacerations, as well as signs of neglect and serious malnourishment.

Both the teenager and the woman have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. We must demand justice, including a ban on animal ownership and intensive mandatory psychiatric intervention! Sign the petition!
