JUSTICE FOR "BUBS"

Harris Township – Menominee County – Upper Peninsula, Michigan

On Monday, July 18th, 2011, Gary Niarhos went out to feed his small herd of cattle to find that 3 of them had been brutally tortured the night before. The two 800 lb. pregnant heifers had to be euthanized due to their horrific injuries. The 1,400 lb. bull, “Bubs”, suffered a broken jaw, broken backbone, welts and 15 – 20 knife wounds (I’m not sure if his current condition).  Metal bars, jack handles and shovels were at the scene and obviously used by the Escanaba teens who ran the cattle individually into the chutes, tortured them, and then released them.

The individuals were caught, mostly due to the farmers’ persistence. The judge reduced bond for both individuals to just $1,000.  Open hearing in Menominee County Courthouse is scheduled for 7/27 - 11am.

I’m told that letters are also helpful; you can fax to him as well:

Nicholas Michael Leisner, 17, of 4687 Hwy. 2 & 41, of Escanaba, and Peter John Sauve, 17, of 1106 Stephenson Ave., of Escanaba should be given the maximum sentence (4 years) but I was told by the Prosecutor that he doubted they’d do any jail time.

There may be others involved and I trust that the Sheriffs Dept in Menominee County will find all who took part in this horrible crime. Dan Hass is the Prosecuting Attorney, Phone: (906) 863-2002.

THE GOAL OF THIS PETITION IS TO BE SURE THAT THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE PUNISHED SEVERELY

FOR THIS PREMEDITATED CRIME AND SPEND THE MAXIMUM TIME (4 YEARS) IN PRISON!  NOT

BACK ON THE STREETS TO DO THIS OR SOMETHING EVEN WORSE !

We the undersigned urge the court in Menominee, Michigan to give Nicholas Michael Leisner and Peter John Sauve, the individuals charged in the torture and killing of defenseless animals, the maximum penalty of four years in prison, $5,000 fine along with probation for this horrific crime.  Do not let this crime go unpunished for the horrible death of innocent animals; as their next victims may very well be human.
