BBC, Let Women Read the News!

Are 50-year-old white men the only ones who understand what's going on in the world? Or does it just seem that way because the British Broadcasting Corporation hires three times more men than women to report the news?

A recent study coming out of City University shows that, when you flip on the news, you're 75% likely to see a male presenter. And it's not just reporters and anchors. Women experts are much less likely to be called for an on-air opinion than their male colleagues.

It's hard to see how women are ever going to have workplace equity when a new generation of girls sees almost no women in these important and respected jobs. Tell the BBC to hire and interview more women to read and report the news!

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation:

We the undersigned are saddened to learn that gender bias in the world's most prestigious media continues with little improvement in the last few years. Recent research conducted at City University shows that there are three times more men than women reporting the news on television. Not only that, but women are less likely to be called as experts for Today and other BBC news shows. You owe it to the next generation of women to demonstrate that women understand the news and can be trusted to present it to the world. There are plenty of highly-accomplished women journalists. Please hire a few.
