It’s Time for Australia to Say Yes to Marriage Equality

Thousands of people across Australia are being denied the right to marry the person they love. According to Australian law, marriage is “between a man and a woman, to the exclusion of all others.”

We’re meant to the be the land of the “fair go,” but this exclusionary law is just the opposite. The Australian government has been dragging its feet and failing to make same-sex marriage a reality for years. While marriage equality has been legalised in the US, New Zealand, Ireland, Brazil and many other countries, we continue to lag behind.

It’s time to put an end to the ”no” arguments in the media, the fearmongering and the hateful television ads that are damaging to LGBTQI people everywhere.

The fight for marriage equality is an important step for equal rights – it’s about standing up for love, respect and equality. It’s already taken too long. Australia is ready, it’s time to demand the law be changed now.

Love is love – same sex couples should be afforded the same rights as anyone else. Pledge your support and say “Yes” to marriage equality now.
