For 604 people to shoulder an increase from $66. per quarter to $320. per quarter will put many out of their paid/unpaid for homes, as well create a situation that will affect resale value. It's not that we don't care, we VERY MUCH care. Keep in mind we are only dealing with SEWER runoff water. This is the water AFTER we have drunk from the tap, taken showers, etc. We all have our own wells that supply the water for the above. In other words, only our DIRTY water is being treated, while the runoff from fertilizers lavishly heaped upon crops, with no restraints in place, by the surrounding agricultural farming community is not being dealt with at all! Our water supply is so polluted it is poisoning the residents! Is this our reward? By all accounts reported by the powers that be in Madison and by our local sewer committee, we are to be doing cartwheels, and all those not getting in line are treated with animosity.
We as a small group cannot shoulder the cost alone. We did get a HUGE grant---trouble is it was intercepted. Not one cent was passed on to the very people paying for it. What does that tell you?
The solution? Let's call this what it is---a DISASTER. Are there not disaster relief funds available for such atrocities?Without pro bono, qualified legal help it doesn't look like there is a solution. The sad news is that had measures had been taken by a sleeping sewer committee at the beginning when they should have, we would not be at the mercy of this out and out bullying.

Contact the originator of this petition, not the sewer commitee who for suspicious reasons have no problem with this arrangement.
