Stop Xenophobic Violence and Unlawful Removal of Immigrants in South Africa Before 30 June

    Problem:
South Africa is facing growing tension and fear as discussions spread about possible unlawful actions against immigrants and foreign nationals on 30 June. Many people are calling for civilians and groups to remove immigrants themselves, instead of allowing the law to handle immigration matters properly.
Some justify these actions by blaming immigrants for unemployment and economic struggles. However, South Africa’s challenges are far more complex and cannot be solved through intimidation, violence, or targeting vulnerable people.
If communities begin taking the law into their own hands, innocent lives may be placed in danger, fear will spread, and divisions between people will grow deeper. Unlawful removals and xenophobic violence violate the values of human dignity, peace, and constitutional rights that South Africa stands for.
    Solution:
We call on the government and SAPS urgently act before tensions escalate further by:
Publicly condemning xenophobic violence and unlawful removals
Ensuring that immigration laws are enforced only through legal government processes
Preventing intimidation, threats, and violence in communities
Increasing protection and rapid response in areas at risk of unrest on 30 June
Promoting unity, lawful solutions, and peaceful dialogue instead of hate and fear
Immigration concerns must be handled through law, fairness, and humanity — not through violence or mob action. South Africa must protect both national stability and human dignity.
