Dogs are tortured to death because of the false belief that when the adrenaline levels are high in the dog's blood before death, then the meat becomes tastier and makes the eater more masculine. Also, some farmers think that electrocuting will reduce the quality of meat, so dogs are often hanged and burnt (to remove the fur). In most cases, the dogs next in queue have to watch their families get hanged, stabbed and burned. During their short and sad life, the dogs don't get proper food (but human food waste) because dry food is allegedly too expensive. Water is not given to dogs either.
United Dogs has launched a campaign to stop the brutal dog torture and the dog meat industry in South Korea and we ask for your support in this.

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the situation of dogs in Korea from both a legal and a humane perspective.
Reportedly, still over two million dogs are killed in horrible ways every year in your country and the government is not willing to put an end to the situation despite its de jure commitment to Animal Protection Laws. The unsatisfactory conditions for dogs on dog farms and the brutal ways that they are slaughtered do not show the Republic of Korea in a good light to the rest of the world. Furthermore, it is a great injustice to allow dogs to be bred, raised and slaughtered for meat.
We are the people of the international community and we strongly believe that:
- Animal torture should remain illegal in all forms and in all countries
- The government of South Korea has to ensure that Animal Protection Laws are followed in their country
- Dogs are people's companions and helpers, not livestock for meat
- Dog farms, raising dogs for food and killing them for meat should be made illegal
- Selling dog meat in restaurants has to be banned
We cannot tolerate dog torture, and we do not recognize dogs as food animals because of the special relationship they have always had with humans. The dog meat industry must be made illegal with clear legislation and no loopholes that could allow dog meat processing to continue.
We believe that it is in your hands to change the status quo and show to the world that the Korean government is going to put end to this shameful and sad matter as soon as possible.
We are going to continue the fight for dog rights and raise international awareness about the dog meat industry in the Republic of Korea until the situation improves.
