Thank you for your email, and we appreciate your concern. Many factors are considered and balanced by the crown when deciding whether or not to pursue a prosecution. Alberta Justice and Solicitor General has a strong record of collaborating with enforcement agencies and the Humane Society for the prosecution of cruelty to animal offences and takes these cases very seriously. However in this particular case, after careful review, it was determined there was insufficient evidence to support a conviction. Accordingly, the decision was made to not proceed. Concerns about whether this event was properly an "art" display, or appropriate for public viewing, are not the responsibility of Alberta Justice and are more properly dealt with by the Educational Institution where the event took place.
