Get Mark Cuban Out Of ABC's Shark Tank!

  • por: Rebecca G.

ABC's reality show Shark Tank features aspiring entrepreneurs who get just minutes to pitch their dream business idea to a panel of five investors — including billionaire Dallas Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban. The "Sharks" are presented as wise and all-powerful business innovators. They can make or break a contestant's business dreams.

But Mark Cuban shouldn't be in the position to decide the fate of anyone's business. Earlier this year, Sports Illustrated released a shocking expose about a culture of sexual harassment and "corrosive" workplace behavior at Cuban's Mavericks organization — promoting a formal NBA investigation.

Tell ABC and producer Mark Burnett to remove Mark Cuban from Shark Tank! After enabling and ignoring misconduct at his business for years, Cuban shouldn't get to publicly decide the fate of aspiring business owners on TV.

The article documents "numerous instances of sexual harassment" over two decades — where male executives and senior staff made sexual and threatening comments and forcibly kissed and touched female staff. Employees faced retaliation and punishment if they complained.

Although Cuban did not face personal accusations of misconduct, the investigation found him responsible for allowing the toxic culture towards women to occur. He was sanctioned to donate over $10 million to women's groups.

Many employees quoted in the article still call the organization's current culture toxic and several new employees have come forward with new accusations. Recently, four female former employees accused a Mavericks photographer (and personal friend of Mark Cuban) of sexual harassment — all under Cuban's watch.

If Cuban allowed and enabled a toxic work environment at the Mavericks — he caused serious trauma and repercussions for the women that were affected. He should not be rewarded by acting like an infallible and all-powerful business leader on Shark Tank.
