Recently the condominium Board decided not to open the community pool for the 2020 summer season because of anticipated liability associated with COVID-19 lawsuits.
Many owners feel that when proper protocols are put in place as recommended by the State and CDC, as well as requiring strict adherence to community pool regulations, that the health and safety of all residents will be assured and the risk of liability will be neutralized. Some examples of the ways this can be accomplished are as follows:
1. Controlling the number of owners allowed in the pool area at any one time consistent with social distancing guidelines.
2. Eliminating or reducing the number of guest passes.
3. Spraying all furniture with a disinfectant after use and/or require residents to bring their own lounge chairs.
4. Requiring all residents entering the pool to sign a COVID-19 Disclaimer.
5. Limiting the number of residents using the rest rooms at any one time.
6. Not permiting food in the pool area.
