We as a nation are beginning to care for, love, and accept our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. The work of President Obama and politicians who now advocate for the LGBTQ inspires our community to seek full civil recognition under the law! The recent Supreme Court decision granting Marriage Equality to the LGBTQ on a federal level was a historic step that gives us hope for a more peaceful and kind future.
However, we cannot stop just there. Contrary to slowing down, we need advocates and allies who will be vocal about their support of the LGBTQ inside the ballot box. We need this support in the coming election in order to protect our community from forces that seek a return to the previous status quo of fear and hatred toward the LGBTQ.
More simply, we need every person we can to pledge their support for candidates who will help protect and expand LGBTQ Civil Rights through the proposed Equality Act, which seeks to stop work place and job discrimination for our community nationwide! This legislation is the next battle ground in our movement. This next step will require tremendous energy and activism on all our parts!
