Many hiking challenges have been postponed to try and discourage people from traveling outside of their "local" area. The Adirondack 46ers is one that has not. I am in total support of the organization and the hike challenge but first and foremost I am in support of my local SAR, local hospitals, nurses, my neighbors, and even myself. It's not about doing what everyone else is doing, it's about doing what is right. We all need to compromise during this time. I am asking the 46er organization to better support the request of the local communities and postpone the challenge. It may not stop everyone, but it may slow the flow, it could make a difference. It also shows support. As a 46er myself, I support the organization, I volunteer for trail work with the DEC, and I am a registered lean to adopter. I personally would feel more supported if this organization did the right thing and supported me, us, and even you, in return. No one is saying don't hike, we are just asking to be more mindful. And for a little encouragement, asking the organization to be more mindful by removing the temptation.

4/28/2020: after reaching out to the ATC it was confirmed that as of now (dating back to March 31st) they are NOT crediting hikers for their challenge. This is affective until further notice!
