operation starlight

Light pollution is unnecessary fake light. The four types of light pollution are:
Urban Sky Glow—brightening of the sky over urban areas.
Light Trespass—light shining where it is not meant to, wanted to, or needed.
Glare—unwanted brightness causing discomfort. High levels of glare can make it hard to see.
Clutter—large amounts of cluttered light, usually found urban areas. Clutter adds to urban sky glow, trespass, and glare.
For all of Earth's existence, our mesmerizing stars and galaxies have been seen in the darkness of the night sky. From our earliest years, the colossal spectacle sprawled across the night sky has inspired questions about our world. The history of scientific discovery, literature, art, navigation, astronomy , philosophy ,exploration, possibly even human curiosity itself would be nothing without the stars. But recently, the growing number of people on earth and the increase excessive outdoor lighting has resulted in light pollution—a brightening night sky that has vanished the stars for much of the world. Most people have to travel far from home, away from the urban areas and the glow of fake light, to see the awe-inspiring Milky Way as our ancestors used to know it.
We at "The stars were meant to shine", believe that in order to restore the night sky to its former glory; we need to have 24 hours each year to turn of all unneeded power. If we do this the glow that plagues our night skies will be reduced to a faint twinkle of light. Power such as outside lights, unneeded light in the house. Street lights, factory lights, fairy lights, theme parks and many more need to set aside 24 hours each year to save our skies. That's only 1 hour every 2 weeks.
We call this: operation star light.
