Stand With Tyson on Humane Pig Farming!
Leading U.S. pork processor Tyson is calling for improved conditions for piglets and pregnant sows. Currently, some farmers still place pregnant sows in gestation crates, which immobilizes them so they can't turn around or stretch their legs. Blunt force remains the main way to kill sick and injured piglets, and an undercover video from an Oklahoma farm shows workers slamming piglets into the concrete ground and leaving them to die.
Tyson is asking their suppliers to increase the quality and quantity of space for sows so they can move around, and to use gentle euthanasia rather than blunt force to put down sick and injured piglets.
Modern consumers are more aware of animal cruelty in the agricultural industry. Gestation crates and using force to kill piglets has always been wrong and is no longer politically correct.
