Stop the vilification of whistleblowers

We live in a world where whistleblowers are being unrelentingly punished and vilified just because they ‘blow the whistle’ and are unwilling to permit the undoing of their legislative rights, human rights and dignity.

The war on whistleblowers is something which affects us all. Whistleblowers are not the ‘bad guys’, yet, they continue to be ostracized and humiliated by the companies they hope to improve.

Until the government can show workers that it has a credible record of protecting whistleblowers, we can be assured that employees will continue to remain silent.

What will be the cost of silence? Human life, damage to the environment, public health, abuse of the public purse and for the whistleblowers themselves, the loss of their careers, damage to their health, and their reputations ruined.

The current system simply condones and tolerates corruption and retaliations on whistleblowers, rather than tackling the wrong-doing reported and protecting the whistleblowers who report it.
