Use Environmentally-Safe / Chemical-Free Practices to Maintain Public Spaces in Sammamish

Did you kow that the City of Sammamish allows the application of Round-Up at our public parks during the day when children are playing?  Spraying chemicals at where our children play in the dirt and eat is unacceptable.  There is not enough research done to deem the exposure to these chemicals safe over the long term.  The City of Sammamish already promotes environmentally-safe/ chemical-free yard care to its citizens via city-sponsored classes and mailers. Why aren't they practicing what they preach?  The minimal increase to grounds maintenance costs (if any) are worth it when you consider the health implications to those among us who are most vulnerable to environmental toxins (children).  Environmental toxins applied to the ground also have unknown and widespread effects on water quality and wildlife.  Please help the City of Sammamish do what is right for its residents by signing this petition.  Thank you.
