To the Honorable Members of Moncton City Council
We, the undersigned, are writing to you as an informed, concerned, voting taxpayers in this city and urging you and this city to end the fluoridation of our water supply.
Over the last several years we have thoroughly investigated medical research worldwide and encountered an array of professional opinions citing water fluoridation as unethical, physically debilitating and of little if any benefit.
The ethical point is brought up on the heels of a Calgary AB decision to cease fluoridation, their decisive point being that people have the right to choose which medications they will consume, not to have them slipped into their water supply.
Most European countries do not fluoridate, as do only a low % of the municipalities of Quebec, 3.5% of Newfoundland and only 5% of British Columbia. Waterloo Ontario, as the most recent besides Calgary, has also opted out of this practice. Fredericton does not fluoridate and the public's' growing awareness has many other Canadian cities practice of water supply fluoridation under scrutiny and re-evaluation.
Lets not be the last bastion of an out-dated policy. Investigate why fluoridation is being condemned by scientists and chemists, our general citizenry and health professionals both nationally and globally. Show that our city and our councillors have the foresight, the concern, for its citizens by nixing water fluoridation when it reappears on the ballot.
