Injustice for our children

I am writing to you today after having received a telephone call from the Probation Service in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. They phoned me on the 12th February to inform me about the early release of Jamie Riddick and told me that they would normally do a home visit but the deadline for the paperwork was that day, so they had to phone me instead.

Jamie Riddick was tried at Coventry Crown Court on the 27th January 2016, The offence was - Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, whilst under the influence of alcohol x3. He was sentenced to 9 years in prison, but told he would serve half (41/2 years).

My son Ryan Case along with two of his friends, Emily Jennings and Nathan Rhodes, were thrown from the car in the accident and died instantly, a the 4th passenger Charlie Smith was also thrown from the car and severely injured, he now suffers from memory loss.

Riddick wasn’t their friend he was out looking to earn money by giving lifts home as an unofficial taxi, he was driving a dangerously defective car that his father had bought for him from Ebay as spares or repair, the car had no M.O.T and Riddick had no insurance or full driving licence only holding a provisional licence.

The families are absolutely shocked and devastated to hear that he is to be released so early! We have been told by the Probation Service that it will be sometime between February and July 2019.
We had been informed by the Probation Service that the month of release on licence was July 2020 with the understanding that prisoners will be released at the half way point of their sentence, Riddick hasn’t reached this point yet, he has another year and a half left to serve, he has only been in prison for 3 years! A year for each person he killed is not Justice!

We want to make people aware how little lives really matter when they decide to release prisoners back into the community, this is an insult to us and the memory of our loved ones! Three families have had their lives destroyed by this, we have not had time to grieve or to prepare ourselves for his release.

We do not want him released on ROTL and believe that he should serve whole sentance which in all eyes is still not long enough.

We just want support from all friends and associates to support us via a petition.
