Break gender stereotypes: demand that Italy introduce menstrual leave!

Is woman's period still a taboo? What women who suffer from dysmenorrhea would say about that? In addition to the terrible stomach pain, society induces women to hide symptoms of dysmenorrhea in order not to support gender stereotypes. In other words, not to influence the perception of person reliability, especially in a work environment. Is that right? Why try not to fight stereotypes instead?

In the Italian Parliament, there is a bill to help women's fight against gender discrimination: this bill introduces a system of paid Menstrual Leave of maximum 3 days per month. This leave will be certificated by a specialist and available just to those who suffer from dysmenorrhea. The Work Committee has already voted in favor of this bill, but Parliament Assembly not yet. If the law is approved, Italy would become the first western country to have this type of protection for women.

Japan, South Korean and other few Asian countries has already successfully introduced this right. The same for big companies such as Nike. In those places, it has already improved job performances.

Why should we not protect women health? Why should we not fight against women discrimination? Please, ask to the Italian President of the Chamber of Deputy, Laura Boldrini, to let Parliament vote this bill now!
