Texas, faced with some of the most oppressive voter suppression and abortion legislation in the country, is in urgent need of changes in leadership.
There's been recent speculation in the news, and from former Representative Beto O'Rourke himself, that a run for Texas Governor could be in his future. Beto is everything Abbott lacks — a champion for voting rights, for abortion access, for science, and above all he is passionate about tackling the issues marginalized Texans face. Trump lackey Greg Abbott is dangerous to have in office, and the Democratic party needs a strong, credible candidate up against him in the upcoming election. Beto would be perfect for the job. He's proven it to us through inspiring leadership, his genuine and meaningful advocacy for victims of gun violence, and not to mention in 2018 he faced off against Ted Cruz in one of the tightest Senate races in decades.
Beto could absolutely win this. If he agrees to run, that is.
