Investigate Fraternity for Animal Abuse After Video Shows Member Tormenting Ducks with a Gun

It should be obvious that, as a society, we've agreed that hurting animals is not 'cool' or 'tough' or 'impressive.' But one fraternity at a California university apparently didn't get that memo.

In a video that has begun circulating online, multiple members of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at the University of California-Davis can be seen tormenting and harming innocent ducks - by holding guns to their heads, keeping them in dog cages, and possibly even shooting them.

The video opens with a member of the fraternity holding a long gun and walking behind a duck that clearly feels frightened and wants to get away from him. The duck tries to move away, but the man nudges the gun towards the back of its neck. Every time the duck moves, he follows at close range right behind it - keeping the gun aimed at the duck's head.

It then cuts to a view of a dog kennel, in which there are two ducks. A "clap" noise goes off, and one of the birds flops on its side, desperately rustling its wings - clearly wounded and in pain. Some commenters online seem to suggest they recognize this location as being in the Alpha Gamma Rho frat house's backyard.

In the final scene of the video, three members of the fraternity chant and laugh together as they stand next to the dead carcass of a duck, which is hanging from the ceiling.

These animals are like any other living beings - they want to avoid pain and suffering. Yet the men at Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity clearly saw them as funny toys to torment for entertainment.

The police are apparently investigating this individual's cruelty towards animals, and the University has confirmed the man is no longer a student at its school. But what about the larger fraternity? Was this really an isolated incident and just one 'bad apple'? Will the fraternity face any repercussions? Will there be an investigation into the larger culture of glorifying abuse and harm?

There certainly should be. Demand an investigation into this fraternity, now! Sign the petition!
