Gay conversion therapy. Read every word carefully, and then look around you. No, we aren't in the Middle Ages — it's still 2018. But in the UK, dozens of members of the LGBTQ community, many still underage, are being "treated" for being gay by religious leaders every year.
An undercover investigation into a Pentecostal church conversion therapy group shows just how messed up the practice is.
In a survey that included nearly 110,000 interviewees, 2,160 of them declared that they had undergone the therapy. Considered "oppressed by the devil," gay conversion therapy aims to liberate men everywhere and this is not acceptable.
The practice often includes verbal, emotional and even physical abuse. By its very nature, it is psychological torture. You can't "convert" a gay person into a straight person, nor should we be trying to.
The UK has already stated that it will outlaw this abhorrent practice, but the solution isn't coming fast enough and every day at least 5 people are being abused for their sexual orientation.
The UK government must act now and stop this embarrassing medieval practise!
