Take Action to Protect Sudan's Children

Sudan is facing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.

Nearly three years of conflict have gutted hospitals, destroyed homes, displaced families and ravaged entire communities.

Today, 17 million children are at risk of danger, hunger and disease.

But our leaders can protect these children and prevent further atrocities…if they act NOW.

Dear [Elected Official],

Sudan is facing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, leaving 17 million children at grave risk of crushing hunger, violence and disease.

Years of conflict have destroyed homes, schools and hospitals. Displaced families are fleeing hundreds of miles in search of safety. Famine-levels of malnutrition have just been declared in two more areas of Sudan, with nearly 53% of children facing global acute malnutrition in Um Baru locality – more than double the global average of 20%.

Our nation can prevent further atrocities if we act NOW. I urge you to call on the Administration to facilitate an urgent humanitarian ceasefire, separate from the political resolution of this conflict. Humanitarian actors must be able to reach the most vulnerable, and children and families should be able to move freely to access safety and lifesaving services.

The international community must also remain in Kordofan State so perpetrators of violence know the world is watching. To prevent the kind of brutality seen in El Fasher, I urge you to prioritize high-level diplomatic visits to Kadugli City from across the international community – including U.S. government representatives.

The United States has an opportunity to lead the way and take decisive action to save children's lives.

Thank you for keeping your eyes on Sudan.

Sincerely,
