Bring Back the Greater Sage-Grouse
The Greater Sage-Grouse is one of the most iconic and imperiled bird species of the American West. But it has already disappeared from a number of states and provinces and its rangewide population has been cut in half in just the last seven years.
In spite of the urgent need for conservation, Congress passed a law that ignores the best science and prevents the Greater Sage-Grouse from being protected under the Endangered Species Act. With all of the threats faced by the Greater Sage-Grouse, this law will be devastating!
Take action today to send a message to President Obama and your elected officials in Congress, urging that they stand up for the Endangered Species Act and for Sage-Grouse conservation.

I support the unprecedented effort to conserve the Greater Sage-Grouse, one of the most iconic and fastest-declining bird species of the American West.
However, I am concerned that the process continues to be hampered, most recently by a congressional rider that makes listing the grouse under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) an impossibility.
I urge Congress to restore the possibility of listing the grouse under the ESA, providing the species with the assurance of a safety net.
I also urge that the grouse management plans now underway reflect the best possible science, including protecting large areas of habitat and limiting future energy development. These plans will be even more important should the grouse remain excluded from the ESA.
