End Job Discrimination Against LGBTQ Americans

  • por: Chris Burley

In 28 states, a person can still be fired from their job just for being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer..

The Supreme Court's landmark June 26, 2015 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges recognized marriage equality as a fundamental right for all Americans. Now it is time to ensure equality for LGBT Americans at work.

Freedom from discrimination is a bedrock requirement for the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Without protection against being fired for discriminatory reasons, LGBTQ Americans are often forced to hide spouses and deny their identities at work out of fear of losing their jobs.

It's time for Congress to secure equal protection under the law for LGBTQ Americans by passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, important legislation that would prohibit workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Take a stand for equality! Urge your US Representative and Senators to do everything they can to introduce and pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act during this session of Congress.

Dear Decision Maker,

As someone who believes in equality and equal protection under the law, I strongly urge you to do everything in your power to ensure that the Employment Non-Discrimination Act is introduced and passed before the end of this session of Congress.
