Protect a Woman's Right to Choose in Colorado

The 62^nd Amendment to Colorado's Constitution doesn't just seek to make abortion illegal, it would to make abortion into murder subject to criminal investigation, even in cases of miscarriage. The last thing a woman should have to suffer after a miscarriage is a criminal trial.

With Amendment 62, anti-abortion extremists are proposing to define a fertilized egg as a "person". Doing so would mean that fertilized eggs become protected under all the inalienable rights in Colorado's constitution.

The anti-abortion amendment even applies when the mother's life is at stake and in cases of rape or incest. It also prohibits certain forms of contraception, like the pill or the shot. These forms of birth control inhibit the release of an egg into the womb, and alter the womb's lining, preventing pregnancy. Under Amendment 62, this interference would be illegal.
