Save State Parks From Closing

For decades, families have visited Hendy Woods State Park to camp and hike among its gigantic 1,000-year-old redwood trees and enjoy the cool shade, enveloping quiet and beautiful Navarro River.

Hendy Woods State Park was one of the 16 redwood state parks scheduled to close this past summer because of state budget cuts. But because of the support of people who love the parks, it was able to stay open -- for now. When parks close they risk damage from vandals who don't value these magical places the same way you do.

As decision makers plan budgets, it's important to send a message about what Americans value. And the first step to showing how much we value our state parks is actually visiting them!

Don't let state parks become neglected so they face the chopping block. Pledge to visit your local state parks and learn more about how you can protect them.
