Abducted my nephew in Sri Lanka

Whom it may Concern,

This letter is to inform you about the abduction of a year 12 student,
Kannan Kuharajan in Jaffna, Sri-lanka. Kannan is studying at St Johns
College and is sitting for his HSC in August. He is the son of a Branch
Executive Officer in the SLRCS, Jaffna Branch. Kannan was forcefully
abducted from his home on Friday 4th May 2007, at 8pm. He was abducted
by a group of armed men with pistol in their hand. It occurred in full
view of his family members. They were threatened with guns and were
prohibited to come out of the house, with the exception of Kannan's
father. Only Kannan's father, Mr. Kuharajan, was permitted to witness
the crime. He questioned his son's captors about his release. In
response they told him that Kannan would be taken for enquiry and that
he will be released within 2 days.

The abduction occurred during the time of the curfew (7pm-4am), while
the Sri-Lankan army were on guard.  Taking into consideration the
information that is outlined, we have assumed that the Sri-lankan army
could have information regarding Kannan's whereabouts.

As of the 18th of May 2007, it has been 14 days since Kannan's
disappearance and there is no sign of him. As expected his family is
extremely distraught and is anxiously waiting for his return. They would
like to know any information about Kannan's disappearance.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could request the Sri-lankan
government to take direct action.

Yours Faithfully

They are students of high promise for themselves and to parents and the country,

The parents of these students approached me desperately and requested me to take up this matter with the higher ups to use their influence with the authorities to release their children as soon as possible.

They strongly suspect that this cannot be taken place without the connivance knowledge of the higher authorities, because this was done during the curfew time and vehicles were used for this purpose. This is the most tragic incident, in which three children were snatched from their own parents.  The children were grown to propagate their family. But by terminating them they terminate their family tree. This should not be allowed to take place forcibly and unnecessarily

Who could take one life? No life be left waste in this way.

The parents are law abiding citizens of this country. They are always ready to cooperate with the Law enforcement forces. Their expectation is to call their children for inquiry through the Principals of the respective schools. This will avoid the mental agony and mental torture to the students and to the parents.

It is very unfortunate that one of the students father Mr.C.Kuharajan, is our Branch Executive Officer.

Therefore I am requesting you as The Chairman of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, Jaffna Branch on behalf of the arrested students’ parents to use your good office and your influence to release these students as early as possible as we don’t have any other promising place to appeal for the release of these students.

Thanking You,
