Help UGM End Homelessness in Metro Vancouver!

Can you imagine being homeless? Today, more than 3,600 people–a record number–are living on our streets in Metro Vancouver. Far too many men, women and children are suffering. That's why, now more than ever, it's vital for people to speak up for those who are struggling.

Richard was born and raised in Vancouver. He was bullied relentlessly as a young child and struggled with self-worth, anxiety and anger. He began experimenting with drugs as an attempt to self-medicate, but that led to a downward spiral. Richard nearly lost everything before turning 30 and found himself homeless.

"It was to do with depression and loneliness," says Richard. "I had no self-worth…I ended up on the Downtown Eastside streets for 3 years. I slept in bank tellers to keep warm".

While Richard eventually found support at UGM, thousands of others like him have inadequate access to essential services, and are forced to endure hunger, harassment and violence every day. With help from compassionate people who care, we have faith that more can be done to help people who are homeless in Metro Vancouver.
