Hey you! Listen, I need YOU to pay ATTENTION, this is serious! This is a problem that affects your kids, your parents and yourself! And you don't even have a say about it! I'm talking about nuclear power.
Every 18 months the uranium rods in a reactor need to be changed and those old rods are covered with radio active waste! That means the atoms have been split and become unstable, searching for their other half, and they'll pass through anything to get it! (Even human flesh!) No government has any proper solution for containing this waste. Once it's produced, it's NOT going away, it can have a half life of over 1,000 years!
You can eat this stuff too, if not properly stored, it can leak into our water supplies and then water our vegetables! That's right, you could be eating radioactive carrots! So please, we have to stop making it.
The government spends millions of dollars every year on repairs when there are plenty of other options such as wind, solar, hydro power and geothermal energy which are environmentally friendly and safe for generations to come!

My name is Katherine Meikle and I have started this petition to ask you a question. Today I ask you why you are here. Are you here to poison the children of tomorrow, to put the peoples' lives in danger, who trusted you with their votes? To torture the very planet that made life possible for you and your family? Now Sir, I am not making accusations or insulting you in any way, in fact, I am just giving you a chance to say no to nuclear and to say no to corrupt politicians who have said for too long that toxic and unstable waste is OK. That radiation and early death is OK! And so I ask you now to rethink what so many have over looked and ignored and to stop this madness once and for all, to band nuclear power in Ontario.
