PROSECUTE WAGE ROBBERS WHO FALSELY CLAIM SEXUAL ABUSE AND THREATEN MOB VIOLENCE
PROSECUTE WAGE THIEVES WHO FALSELY CLAIM SEXUAL ASSAULT AND THREATEN MOB VIOLENCE
We, the undersigned,
provided that
between midnight and 1.00am on Sunday 27th April 2008, outside the Branksome Arms, Commercial Road, Bournemouth, a woman made off from a taxi without paying the fare, and immediately lied to a crowd of people about being sexually assaulted by the driver, thereby inciting mob violence, and used a male accomplice to threaten the driver with violence,
noting that
the driver has made a formal complaint to Dorset Police and signed a sworn statement of the full facts of the case,
also noting that
the woman who made the allegations of sexual assault has failed to report the incident to the police or to the taxi licensing authority, or even to the taxi operator from whom she booked the taxi,
call on the Crown Prosecutor to prosecute at least one of the above offenders for at least one of the above offences, and assert that it would be in the public interest to do so because
1. this type of scam could easily ignite mob violence on the streets, is therefore a public menace, and should be stamped on before it gets a chance to become more commonplace in Bournemouth, and someone gets seriously hurt;
2. false allegations of sexual assault - especially for such a trivial and squalid reason as, evasion of a £13.50 taxi fare - demeans a serious offence and grotesquely insults every person who has ever been raped or sexually assaulted and has struggled to get justice in the criminal courts;
3. the police, CPS and courts should take this opportunity to be seen not to tolerate false allegations of sexual offences, especially when they are used to facilitate wage theft, blackmail or extortion with threats of violence;
4. public carriage by taxi or private hire is a dangerous job already, and drivers are entitled to expect the criminal justice system to protect them from the high risk of violence and job-threatening defamation of character which results from this type of crime;
5. failure to prosecute will incentivise these low-lives to continue robbing, defaming, threatening and inciting mob violence against innocent people instead of deterring them from doing it again.
