Bristol-Meyers Squibb Boils Monkey Alive - Take Action NOW

We have just learned through a USDA report that over the past summer, pharmaceutical giant, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, was responsible for the gruesome death of a monkey - a test subject - in one of its laboratories. The monkey was accidentally left in its cage while it went through a scalding hot water wash and was essentially boiled to death.

Animal groups are also reporting that another monkey was recently killed by strangulation after 'accidentally' being left tethered to its cage by its neck.

Any company that can be as careless as this with the living beings in its care should not be permitted to use live subjects at all. Tell Bristol-Meyers Squibb to urgently shut down this laboratory and make a commitment to take monkeys and other animals out of all of its laboratories.
We the undersigned are writing to express our extreme disgust over an event that took place this summer in one of BMS's laboratories involving the gruesome death of a monkey that was essentially boiled alive.

Additional reports indicate that there are several other animal welfare violations in this laboratory including the strangulation of another monkey that was 'accidentally' left tethered to its cage.

There is absolutely no excuse for the deaths of these two animals that were treated with such callous and disregard. Your employees obviously no longer look at their test subjects as living, breathing beings, but rather commodities they can toss by the wayside. If this was not true, we would not be in this situation.

We are asking that you urgently shut down the laboratory responsible for this unabashed torture and that you also make a commitment to take monkeys and other animals out of your labs once and for all.
