Support Fees Passed To Children

I recently received a letter from the PA Domestics Department that custodial parents will be charged an annual fee of $25 to cover some of the federal government's costs of providing child support enforcement services. After doing some research, I discovered that the Federal Government mandates this charge to be paid by the custodial parent; non-costodial parent or the state's general fund used to operate the Dept. of Health and Welfare.  What has Pennsylvania come to? Now my child is responsible to help off-set government costs?

Many custodial parents do not choose to enlist the services of the child support department. For many, the experience with this department is inadequate and frustrating. Because of irresponsible parents, is why support needs to be mandated, enforced and collected by this agency.

How many custodial parents receive support on a regular basis?  How many receive less than what is court ordered and told "at least a payment is being made". Whether I receive support or not, my child is taken care of. For many, fianancial support is the only support received. Why should any amount be taken away from anyone's child? They have the right to be supported by both parents.

Custodial parents should not be paying this fee.  If the state feels this fee needs to passed on to someone, it should be the Non-Custodial parent.

We the undersigned request the $25 annual fee for child support not be passed on to the Custodial Parents.  Thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration.
