Keep Chris Bayer in Prison

Laura Elizabeth Pesce-Giampino was 20 years old when Christopher A. Bayer choked her to death & set fire to her body & home. He was a "friend" of Laura's and pled guilty, claiming that her death was an accident. Accident or not, he completely destroyed her body to the point where her own mother couldn't recognize her. The law states that Christopher should have received two consecutive sentences of 5-15 years. The judge sentenced him to a mere 4-12 years. Because of "good behavior and over crowding" he may be released after only 4 years!

THIS CAN NOT HAPPEN!

Laura & I were friends since she moved to Long Island in 3rd grade. From that year on we were good friends, best friends even. We didn't see much of each other after I moved away to college but we always kept in touch. We were planning our next reunion; she invited me over the night before her body was found but I couldn't make it. Now, because of Christopher Bayer, we will NEVER get to have another reunion.

Laura was recently married before she lost her life. She will NEVER have a child with the man she loved, NEVER fall asleep beside him again, NEVER get to live the life she had only just begun. Laura's mother will NEVER get to see or speek to her only child again, NEVER get to hold a grandchild, NEVER be the same.

What has Christopher Bayer lost in his 4 years in prison? Nothing in comparison.

How can over crowding even be considered in the release of a murderer?! Christopher set fire to his friend's lifeless body and left her there, what else is he capable of?! To let this man back into the community without intense psychological help would be a danger to society. PLEASE keep him in prison where he belongs!

We the undersigned believe that the release of Christopher A. Bayer, the man who has confessed to choking Laura E. Pesce-Giampino to death before burning her body and home, after a mere 4 years in prison would be a complete miscarriage of justice and a danger to the community.

Laura was only 20 years old and recently married when her life was taken from her by Christopher. Because of him, she will never reach her 21st birthday, have a child with her husband, or simply feel the warmth of the sun on her face.

The law states that Christopher should serve two consecutive sentences of 5-15 years; he was sentenced to a mere 4-12 years! The parole board is now considering his release after only 4 years because of overcrowding and good behavior.

Any man whose solution to seeing a "friend" lying lifeless on her bed is to set her on fire is a sick individual and should not be released into the public. The fact that Christopher has confessed to his crime and exhibited good behavior while in prison does not rectify the situation, nor does it prove that he has learned anything from his incredibly short punishment.

This man took his friend's life and burned her body beyond even her mother's recognition. We will not feel safe knowing that Christopher will have served less than half of the recommended sentence before being paroled for good behavior because of overcrowding in prisons. To release this man after such a short time would be devastating to all of Laura's friends and family. Please keep Christopher in prison where he belongs!
