KWF's ! Plastic Peril ! : Take the Pledge

 
There is said to be more than 100 million tones of plastic products being produced every year all over the world - that is a lot of plastic to be discared polluting and fouling the planet. And it is mainly our daily househould consumer products. plastic is detrimental to our health, the health of wildlife and the earth's soil and water systems. 

Because a lot of plastic products are dumped on the land it has a severe affect on the health of the soil and the natural process that occur there. It disrupts the proces of oxygen and water absorption by the soil as it never fully biodegrades. Also it is possible that sunlight is blocked from any plastic remains and inevitable kills important bacteria that helps supportthe health of the soil. As you can see agriculture and wildlife is threatened due to this wasteful society we live in.

Plastic is regularly thrown away carelessly and ignorantly finding its way in to water systems. A high percentage of water has become unsuitable and health damaging for consumption for us, pets and wildlife. The discarding of plastic in to lakes, rivers and ponds for instance, disrupts the ecological processes including the natural flow of water. This disrpution of water flow affects teh reproduction of fish and harms other organisms living there.

It is very scary how much plastic has been reported to accumulate in the oceans. The oceans are vital for the health of the planet in a number of ways. We shoulkd take more care. A lot of plastic is disposed of improperly at sea from recreational boaters, merchant shipping and commeercial fishing and also finds its way from sewage outfalls. How oftem have you come across plastic bottles or bags for example on the beach left over by holiday makers? That is a major problem also and one that we could easily avoid if we took more care. Plastic pollution is such a growing threat to the health of the oceans remaining there for years and affecting marine environments. Not only do the contaminate the sea floor and other environments it directly affects marine life. Mammals, reptiles. birds and fish die by the millions every year from entanglement or eating of the plastic. The very much favourite animal, the sea turtle is particualrly threatened when they eat our plastic bags.

Surely we can sacrifice the use of plastic, especially the bag for the health of the land and oceans and the wildlife that is supports?




I pledge to limit my purchase of plastic products and try my upmost to not use plastic when it is avoidable!

I pledge to re-use as many plastic products that I am capable of and to recycle if not able!

I pledge to use re-usable non-plastic bags for shopping!

I pledge to respect the planet and all that reside here by being extremely careful not to leave plastic when visiting parks, beaches and other locations! 

The Kucinski Wildlife Foundation understand that the manufacturing of plastic is immense in our products today but promote and beg you to avoid using plastic altogether when there is absolutely no need for it.
