It is still disturbing to think that people can kill and process horses and their meat for human consumption. When I look into the beautiful eyes of a horse and see all that innocent love and adoration, I can’t even wrap my mind around anyone doing such a horrible act. In my opinion, this goes way beyond animal abuse and cruelty.
Horses are on this earth, with all their sweetness and beauty, to provide love and pleasure with a gentle nudge, performing tricks and providing leisure walks on horseback. These animals are not meant to provide us with food through horse slaughtering.
In Santa Fe, New Mexico, a company named Roswell and the Valley Meat Company operated a horse slaughterhouse. The company was blocked from operations last year after animal protection groups filed a federal lawsuit against the Department of Agriculture for issuing permits to Valley and two other companies that would become the first domestic plants to slaughter horses in seven years. That lawsuit was thrown out but now the current judge trying the case is actually considering opening the horse slaughterhouse!
We have got to try and protect the horses from an untimely demise and use of their meat for consumption. Please sign and share this petition as a strong voice to let the judge in New Mexico realize that he should not even consider reopening the horse slaughterhouse.
Judicial System of New Mexico – In regards to the possible slaughterhouse operations, Roswell and the Valley Meat Company, it is hard to believe that you would even consider opening this operation. This is absolutely a horrible practice and considered animal cruelty and abuse. Horses are not to be killed for human consumption. Please, DO NOT ALLOW THE OPENING OF THIS HORSE SLAUGHTERHOUSE IN NEW MEXICO.
