Fourth-grader Malachi Pearson was just messing around with a friend during lunch at Rosehill Elementary School, when he was all of a sudden forced to confront the realities of racism and police brutality.
A teacher at the school, who assumed Malachi and his friend were fighting, tore the kids apart and
told Malachi that when he turns 16 and is shot by the police, he will have nobody to blame but himself.
The epidemic of police shootings of unarmed black men shouldn't be taken lightly or used as a threat for normal childish behavior. This particular teacher's comments were even more detrimental considering that Malachi's own father had been shot and killed when he was just a baby.
