The People of irian Jaya (West Papua) are part of the of the Melanesian Ethnic Culture which stretches from West Papua, through the Solomon Islands, the republic of vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji. Our basic Cultural traits are the same, based intrinsically on Family values and respect for one another.
The history of the illegal domination of irian Jaya by the Indonesian Military regime under President Suharto is well documented, as is the collaboration of the US Government at that time.
It is now over 50 years that the people of Irian Jaya have waged war against the brutal Indonesian regime. The UN is unable to mediate in the conflict because the USA continues to sanction Indonesia's atrocities.
The Republic of Vanuatu gained her independence from great Britain and France (Condominium) on 30 July 1980. However, as Melanesians we cannot claim total Freedom untill all Melanesian Brother States are free. This is the rallying cry of all Melanesian States, better known as the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG).
