Stop the Canadian Seal Hunt!

In Canada seals are driven to a horrible fate. Each year when the small harp seals start shedding their fuzzy white coats and ice conditions allow, anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000 Canadian fishermen brutally club and skin hundreds of thousands of seal pups. The Fishermen proceed to club the seals on the head until it appears that they are no longer living (usually determined by performing the blinking eye test). If the seal pup is not yet dead, the fishermen will kick the baby in the face or continue to club it's head with their deadly, hooked weapons. The seals are then hooked in their mouth, eye, or some other part of the skull and then dragged back to the boats. It is not uncommon for the fishermen to not check whether the seal is alive or dead, and studies from a panel of veterinarians show that about 40% of seals are skinned while still alive and conscious. Each year Canadians kill 1/3 of the seal pups born, and this does not include those who might happen to escape.
