SGT Rambo N577 is the mascot of Gizmo's Gift and is owned by Lisa Phillips. Rambo was stationed out of Cherry Point, N.C. for 2 years before he was injured while in routine training on a bite wrap. Due to this injury he developed DJD (Degenerative Joint Disease) In stead of managing it with medication Lisa chose to have the leg amputated in 2012. The leg was not amputated until Lisa came into ownership of SGT Rambo N577 and could have been managed with pain medication but this would not benefit the publicity that Lisa felt she could generate with a 3 legged dog. Also the leg was not amputated as a result from being deployed. It was a training accident. SGT Rambo N577 has never been deployed.
It was downhill from there on out for SGT Rambo N577 and many surgeries would follow due to his love for eating items that should not be eaten. We will post a list of surgeries to display the lack of care and attention that SGT Rambo N577 had to suffer through.
2012 - Leg Amputation
2014 - February, ate a scarf.
2014 - March 22nd, Intestinal blockage / Intussusception. 1 ft of damaged intestine removed. Foreign object ingestion.
2014 - March 25th, Intestinal blockage. More damaged intestine removed. Foreign object ingestion.
2014 - November 18th, ingested part of Kong.
2015 - Late November, ingested sock, intestinal blockage. Surgery to remove sock.
2015 - Late November, 2nd surgery to repair internal damage to intestines rupturing, more intestine removed.
2015 - December 20th, intestinal blockage, sock ingested.
These events are the ones we know about. The ones that were posted about. God only knows how many times that SGT Rambo N577 has ingested things that he managed to pass by himself. These events are not dreamed up, they are on SGT Rambo's page for all to see. The list above clearly shows that we are not talking about a caring and conscientious owner here. The problem repeats itself over and over until at some point SGT Rambo's body will give out from the many surgeries it has had to endure.
You may ask why the vet has not caught onto this or said anything, well that is easy. It is because each of the surgeries were done at different clinics! The clinics do not talk to each other, only react to the emergency that is presented to them.
SGT Rambo N577 does not deserve this! We will speak up for him and be his voice since he can not do so himself. Help us to speak up for this wonderful dog, he deserves to be heard, to be loved and to live out his remaining retirement pain free, and happy!
Remove Rambo from her care and ensure she is never able to adopt a retired hero again!!
