Protect our Oceans from Pollution
There are several ways that trash ends up in the ocean. -recreational boats and sports -storm drains and run off -litter from oil rigs and platforms -daily maximum load amounts of waste dumped by pipelines, sometimes treated, sometimes not. -left behind long-line fisheries garbage and gear -ocean liner lost cargo. And so on...
The amount of trash and debris in our oceans is so great that it can actually be seen by satellite images taken from space!
This is unhealthy for all species of life. Millions of marine mammals, birds, and fish are horribly injured, maimed, mutilated, and disfigured and all too often end up succumbing to awful deaths too terrible to even imagine due to the waste that us humans create and then carelessly throw away.
The ocean is this planet's prime source of life sustaining essentials such as oxygen (from the blue green algae), nutrients (food and medicinal reasons in abundance), water (fresh water from desalination processes [bad] as well as in the melting glaciers), and climate control (helps to cool the planet and plays variety of roles in weather pattern production).
If we do not help our ocean now, who will help us? We must act now!Clean up the mess we have created.Prevent further harm and damage.
We are all dependent on the oceans of the world. We are all responsible for protecting it.
