BEAT THE BLOOM!!!! Repeal the Dirty Water Rule (Navigable Waters Protection Rule)

Living on Long Island has allowed me to enjoy the spectacular lakes and beaches but also learn firsthand how they can be affected by Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB). Being told that the local beaches were closed on a hot summer day because of "pollution in the water" made me realize that there was a serious problem.

HABs don't just change how a body of water looks and smells but it can make drinking or swimming in the water dangerous and even deadly. HABs can cause serious health problems and can be deadly to both people and animals, especially fish. As climate change continues to become more severe, Long Island and many other areas around the world will likely see more HABs in the future. Growing up on Long Island and seeing the effects of HABs I knew that without improving education and awareness, "beating the blooms" on Long Island would be difficult.
It is important to understand that we can ALL help prevent harmful algal blooms by taking action. I want to spread the word that The Clean Water for All Act recognizes that access to clean water is a fundamental right and needs to be supported.

In contrast the Navigable Waters Protection Rule aka Dirty Water Rule harms the health of our communities by allowing companies the freedom to pollute. We can't take clean water for granted. Tell your member of Congress to support the Clean Water for All Act (Section 401) and repeal the Dirty Water Rule!!!!  Please sign the petition.
