Help Save Brandon
- Brandon is my nephew. He just turned 23 years old. He was a normal developing baby and was brain injured at birth by the doctor. Brandon has been raised by my in-laws which are his grandparents. He is unable to speak, move, or eat on his own. Brandon is aware of his surroundings and enjoys family vacations, birthday parties, and sitting in his nanny's lap. He communicates through smiles and sounds. Brandon has a severe case of cerebral palsy. His life expectancy was 10. Brandon's grandmother has devoted her life to caring for him and keeping him alive. He's been a patient at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital his entire life. When he turned 22, his age deemed him an adult. He is the same as he's been his entire life. He weighs a mere 72 pounds and is completely handicapped. His age meant that he lost all of his doctors he's had since birth, his respiratory therapists, and all the devoted nurses that helped save him time after time. While the doctors agreed to see him still, the hospital won't allow him to come back. Sooo...he got sick and was taken to Emory. Emory is a fantastic hospital but the staff admitted multiple times that they are not equipped to take care of him. Hey didn't have his formula, diapers, or gown that for him. Very sad! Age should not merely kick someone out of a hospital. Brandon is sick again. After discussing with doctors, they told his grandparents to take him to Scottish Rite and that they couldn't turn him away. They have but were told this is the last time. I'm pleaing for someone to help him. His life has been hard enough. He deserves to stay at Scottish Rite. Please sign this petition if you support my views.
