Demand an End to Chaining of Dogs

Please sign this petition in order to free dogs of the cruelty they endure on a daily, weekly , and yearly basis due to being chained. I have seen dogs chained and living in mud holes, with overturned water buckets, and enduring extreme heat and freezing temperatures. Not only is it cruel to keep a dog chained, but they also over time become aggresseve and pose a danger to the public.

Please consider passing a anti-chain, tethering ordinance for all of Bessemer. Many residents in our area are keeping their dogs chained, most without proper shelter, and being exposed to extreme heat and freezing temperatures. Most chained dogs become agresseve and pose a real danger to the public.

I ask that the dogs, if they have to be kept outside, that the responible party provide at least 150 sq ft enclosure that has dry ground, assess to water and proper shelter with shade and not exposed to extreme heat or near freezing temperatures, thunderstorms, or tornadoes. Please this ordinanes will make our community safer and more humane. Let Bessemer be an example for other cities to follow.
