The Punisher is a game made by Volition, and was published by THQ in 2005 for the original Xbox, Playstation 2, and PC. THQ lost the rights from Marvel, and with THQ's bankrupty, it was impossible that The Punisher game would ever see the light of day again.
However, with THQNordic not only taking THQ's spot, but also owning the development studio that made the game, this means that we could return of the game. So, how would the game return on each platform?
Firstly, PC physical copies are hard to come by, and are very expensive, so having the game listed on Steam, and GOG can give many players an opportunity to play the game. As the game still runs flawlessly on Windows 10, The Punisher is the perfect game to see a digital release on PC storefronts.
On Xbox One, it's simple: make it a backwards compatible title. Not only could there be a digital option to purchase the game, but anyone who still has the original Xbox copy can play it.
For Playstation 4, it can be done like how Rockstar did Manhunt, releasing it as a digital download that you can purchase off the PSN store.
