LIBYA'S SLAVERY HAS NO PLACE IN THE AU,UN,WORLD!NO MORE SILENCE!ACT NOW!

The media has repeatedly highlighted the plight of refugees and stowaways, who have had the misfortune of finding themselves on Libyan soil.CNN 's video clip that showed young people of African descent being sold into slavery for as little as 100 USD drew world wide outrage.Daily, more graphic images of torture and extortion come out of Libya,a country in Africa.A place where every person of African descent should call home and be able to move and interact freely. However, that sense of security is antiquated and supplanted by fear, even for those Africans spared of the cruelty in their own home countries. The country which is a popular transit point for refugees and migrants from West Africa, has become a place of nightmares.A hell hole manned in places by the very demons from hell. They torture, rape, kill, enslave helpless refugees with impunity while most of the world stays silent.
Granted, not all Non black Libyans are slave and torture merchants. However, this matter calls for action from everyone in and out of Libya. The case of Libya is not just about ending the torture. It is not just about expressing outrage and 'considering action against the perpetrators."It is not about 'considering imposing UN sanctions because of human rights abuses'.This about taking action now!
The African union must live up to its mandate. How is it possible that the AU can tolerate Libya's human rights abuses and still have her as a member? What moral explanation do African governments have, for continued business with political factions whose supporters torture and enslave their own children? What are the AU and individual African nations doing about addressing the causes for the continued migration by desperate refugees escaping grinding poverty?what has been done to address their safety?
African governments must put in place systems that will bring to an end the refugee flight.they must addressing the problems affecting Africa's economies, the high rate of poverty and unemployment. This is a call to action for all governments in Africa. It is about the leadership taking a long hard look at themselves and apologizing to their people for mistakes made by previous regimes that have led to these. It is about stopping the endless political debates and starting to maneuver and implement. It is about moving beyond the five year political cycle in which every regime initiates fresh reforms, entire cycles starting every five years ,with no lasting solutions .It is about Africa taking lessons from our forefathers(Mighty African kingdoms that had sustainable livelihoods for their citizens, so that no beggars existed in Africa before the advent of colonialism-proof that this can be done without superhuman effort) and from Japan, the US and other strong economies on long- term economic plans, beyond the History classroom.
Good governance and sound economic policies must be entrenched in Africa, to restore citizen's faith in the leadership's ability to address their problems .Governments must utilize the rich resources in Africa to alleviate poverty through sustainable income generation.Everyone knows how rich in natural resources Africa is. Civic education must be upheld in and out of Libya ,as a tool to fight prejudice.Humanitarian effort in Africa must be part of a wider strategy that addresses the migrant's plight. The UN must rethink its approach to present day deterrents of human rights abuses by governments and individuals.
We must speak up.We must be our brothers' keepers.Nobody is safe until we all are safe.Nothing is right till everything is right.
If we all pay more than the usual attention to lobby groups,we can change the mundane and ordinary. If we can speak with one voice about this matter-by signing this petition, spreading the information through any media,we can build a better world where human dignity is upheld.
