Families of Correctional Officers and inmates classified as General Population & Sensitive Need Yards, you will be affected!

This dangerous situation affects EVERYONE! General Population Inmates & Families, Sensitive Needs Yard Inmates & Families, and Correctional Officers & Families! No life is worth more than the other!

CDCR has decided to forcefully integrate 2 classifications of inmates that have been separated for decades. A Sensitive Needs Yard Summit in 2016 started this flame. The documents for implementation have been signed by Kathleen Allison, a CDCR official. Ms. Allison does not have any hands on experience working in a prison yard or block. She was an RN and a Community Resource Manager. Her curriculum vitae hardly makes her qualitified to implement such a drastic change that effects the safety of those that occupy a prison yard.

The first level, pilot programs, were carried out at select prisons initially (RJ Donovan/California Medical Facility) and limited the violence by inmates volunteering to sign waivers stating they are willing to program with different classified individuals.

The waiver is no longer an option and CDCR is FORCING this implementation with no regard for inmate or corrections staff safety. CDCR is comparing the success rate of these 2 classifications as rehabilitated if they are able to coexist; in turn deeming those "Not Rehabilitated" it they choose otherwise.

#1-The prisons that have already been forced to integrate have torn families apart by transferring the inmate sometimes more than 4 hours away from their home and forcing them onto yards that they were segregated from for safety issues to begin with. CDCR's mission statement is misleading and misguided. If true rehabilitation is the goal, why remove the only support these men have? Don't we want the future of our society to succeed?

#2-Prison officials have passed out Memos as well as had meetings with inmate councils (IFC/IAC) which offered no confidence. It has been asked in these meetings," Can you guarantee my safety?" "Are you going to step in if I get rushed, or stabbed?" The answer given was nothing short of," bloodshed is anticipated and guaranteed safety cannot be promised!"

#3- Correctional Officers are given specific protocol that requires them at times to NOT intervene if an assault is taking place. The position these COs are in is extremely dangerous due to fear these inmates are experiencing due to their safety being jeopardized. COs are there to ensure safety for all, including themselves, and minimize violence. Why is CDCR making these COs choose whose life is worth more, their own or our loved ones? I don't want to wait for them to make that decision. Do you?

Read the comments below, families and their loved ones have already been assaulted. Why do we need more violence to occur before something is done? Our incarcerated loved ones lives and safety matters!! In addition to signing and sharing, please post comments and be specific.

Integrating Sensitive Needs Yards with General Population Yards needs to STOP!

Please use the link on the petition and go to the Facebook page for information on the Peaceful Protest happening on November 2 in Sacramento. Shirts will be made and posted to the website with details of ordering deadline and payment methods. Come out and support to show California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, your loved ones matter! Lockdowns = No programs. No programs = Can’t accrue milestones/ goodtime. Which means CDCR wins by keeping them behind walls. NOT OK!

California Constitution ARTICLE I DECLARATION OF RIGHTS [SECTION 1 - SEC. 32] ( Article 1 adopted 1879. )SEC. 32. (a) The following provisions are hereby enacted to enhance public safety, improve rehabilitation, and avoid the release of prisoners by federal court order, notwithstanding anything in this article or any other provision of law.
AVOID THE RELEASE OF PRISONERS BY FEDERAL LAW, sounds opposite of rehabilitation.

The Prison Law Office in California has accumulated and provided 14 pages of C.D.C.R.’s time line for integration. Some prison facility memos are attached as well and signed by Ma. Kathleen Allison. It’s clear she is taking responsibility for this housing conversion.
