As with 9/11, there were warning signs then and there are warning signs now. The 9/11 commission wrote, "The most important failure was one of imagination. We do not believe leaders understood the gravity of the threat." The Capital under siege was another failure of imagination: unless we confront the hatred and inhumanity at the foundation of the terrorist attack on the Capital this will happen again.
"If people were given the choice between democracy and whiteness, how many would choose whiteness?" The author Isabel Wilkerson, in her recent book "Caste", cited this as a question from historian Taylor Branch. As the attack last Wednesday on our Capital proved: there are too many Americans who choose whiteness over the law and humanity.
White supremacy is against the law in Germany, why not these United States? The under-belly of white supremacy in the USA has progressively been exposed more and more since the rise of 'Trumpism', yet it has been openly present since the Civil War.
The foundation of white supremacist belief is that all those unlike themselves do not deserve to exist and at its core is violent over throw and always has been. Help change our country and its history.
