Bring in more safe-houses for Men who are facing Domestic Abuse.

It is a known fact that both women and men can face domestic abuse. However for some reason domestic abuse towards women is taken more seriously; there are 4,000 places for women in the United Kingdom, if not more. On the other hand for men there are only 33 refuges that are dedicated to men who face domestic abuse.

The lack of safe-houses for men could be blamed on the fact that a lot of men feel as though they must stand up for themselves as in society it has been portrayed that men should be the stronger sex. Not just physically but mentally as well. Therefore they may not feel comfortable enough to visit safe-houses or call a help line which results in them not being taken into account when it comes to the statistics of domestic abuse towards men.

In 2010 abuse towards males had increased by 35%, this was calculated through the many calls that Men's Advice Line received in 2009 compared to 2010. Even though this statistic has increased significantly in just a year passing, this still does not take into account the men that keep the abuse hidden.

You can help to make a difference to this issue and help men feel equally as important as women when it comes to abuse. Help them see that they have the exact same right to express their feelings and emotions freely without being shot down for not being 'man enough'.
