Stop Corporal Punishment In U.S. Schools

Every Year in the United States at least 220.000 Children in Public Schools are subjective to Corporal Punishment.Corporal Punishment,Legal in 21 States,typically takes the form of "paddling"during which an Administrator or Teacher hits a Child repeatedly on the Buttocks with a long wooden board. Although some Educators believe that Corporal Punishment is an effective way to deter Students from misbehavior-including harmful behavior like fighting-beatings hurt Students,erode the trust between Educators and Students,and degrade the larger Educational Enviornment. Corporal Punishment teaches Students that Violence is legitimate and rarely leads to any long-term decrease in Classroom misbehavior.And Corporal Punishment is inconpatible with Human Rights standards prohibiting cruel,inhuman,and degrading treatment and protecting Children from physical Violence and Mental Abuse.
We the undersigned People would like to address the serious issue of Corporal Punishment in U.S.Schools.Every Year in the United States at least 220,000 Children in Publlic Schools are subjected to Corporal Punishment.Corporal Punishment,Legal in 21 States,typically takes the form of "paddling"during which an Administrator or Teacher hits a Child repeatedly on the buttocks with a long wooden board.Corporal Punishment violates International Human Rights standards binding on the U.S. including the norms prohibiting cruel,inhuman and degrading treatment and protecting the Right to dignity.And as a result of "paddling",many Children are left injured,degraded,and disengaged from School.
